Let us introduce Rut or
Emenem's Rut as it says in the pedigree. This sweet lady is a 3,5 years old border collie. Dear child has many names and Rut, she is called both Ru-Ru, Tutan and Lilli.
Border collie is a dog breed that most people recognize. Many people saw the Swedish TV program Snoken, where the border collie Turbo was the sidekick of the private detective Anders Snoken Grip. The dog breed comes from the UK, and unsurprisingly, the origin of the breed is to herding. It is now almost 100 years since the first Border Collie arrived in Sweden and today there are over 15,000 dogs in the country.
The Border Collie is a popular breed, but it is not the easiest dog breed in the world. It is a distinctly herding dog, bred to work, and requires both mental and physical activity to thrive. Breeding the breed focuses on the qualities of the whale, which has also meant that appearance has not been as important. For this reason, Border Collies can look different in terms of color and hair length. In order for the puppies to be registered with the Swedish Kennel Club, both parents must be approved herding dogs. This is what the
breeding strategy says:
"Border Collie breeding is traditionally and compared to other breeds very focused on the breed's working qualities, i.e. the primary aim is to create capable herding dogs". The Border Collie is described as an attentive and energetic dog, which is both fast and lively. It is also a breed that is very sensitive to signals, communicative and very willing to work. All these characteristics also explain why the BC is not a dog for everyone and why this breed demands so much from its owner.
Our Ruth, she lives in a country house with her master and mistress. The household also includes the border collie Kiwi and six sheep. Playing is life for Ruth, according to her, everyone should play more in life! "Food is less important, but mom says it is necessary to eat to keep going" says Ruth. When we ask Ruth what she would most like to do during the day, we get a long answer. "During the day I prefer to do something fun, which can be any activity, but preferably hiking or cycling or exercising and playing. And I love the forest and water!"
"My favorite toy is a ball with a string, but anything you can fight with works well, like a towel or a leash" says Ruth energetically and continues "I also love cones. And balls of all kinds!" During the interview with Ruth, her mother tells her that Ruth has ants in her pants and it seems to be quite true. Ruth, who speaks on both inhalation and exhalation, says "that candy is also good, because it gives me more space to think when I learn new things".
"Resting I do mostly to recharge my batteries. And when I sleep, I like to sleep in bed, and preferably on the pillow. Every morning I wake up my mom with a peck on the lips. And you know, it works every time!" Ruth giggles.
