Yora comes with chew sticks based on insect protein, and actually quite a lot of them too. Over a quarter of the ingredients are insect meal. By using a non-traditional protein source, the dental sticks can also be suitable for dogs with allergies or with a sensitive stomach.
WHAT ARE THE INSECTS IN YORA?
Hermetia illucens is the name of the larva in Latin, in Swedish it is called black soldier fly. They are grown in the Netherlands, are fast-growing and rarely suffer from any diseases. This means that no growth hormones or antibiotics are needed.
The insects are rich in antioxidants, antimicrobial peptides and chitin. The latter two work together to promote a healthy intestinal flora and reduce harmful bacteria. Other ingredients are apple and mint which also contribute to that fresher breath.
The larvae are dried and then ground into flour, which makes the dental sticks look no different from other chew sticks.
The star-shaped chew stick has a chew-friendly structure which encourages chewing while also cleaning the dog's mouth in a good way. Keep in mind that a dental stick is not something that lasts long, but is a fairly quick-chewed snack. But that is precisely why a package contains seven sticks.

WHY WE CALL IT CLIMATE SMART
A big advantage of using insect larva protein is that it has a smaller climate footprint than many other protein sources. Fly larvae require minimal land and water. In addition, the larvae live on fruit and vegetable waste from the food industry, which contributes to reduced waste. And the larvae grow quickly without creating any harmful waste, which is why their environmental impact is very small.
