A scent selection course consists of several identical containers placed side by side. One of the containers holds the target scent the dog needs to find, while the others are either empty or contain various distractor scents. The dog's task is to examine the entire course and indicate which container holds the correct scent.
The scent board course is an excellent tool for teaching a new scent, practicing scent discrimination, or refining the dog's indication. Since all the containers look identical, the dog cannot solve the task visually; the nose has to do the work.
Once the dog gets the hang of the exercise, you can reconfigure or expand the setup to increase the difficulty. Add more containers, use different scents, rearrange the layout, or introduce distractor scents. Varying the training helps the dog practice maintaining focus and thoroughly investigating each container. The goal is for the dog to recognize the correct scent, rather than simply guessing and hoping for the best.
The scent board system from the Danish company SICASI is modular, fitting together like building blocks. This allows you to change the layout and expand or modify the course to challenge your dog. You can create a longer, larger course and perhaps add more scent hides.

WHAT COMPONENTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR THE SCENT BOARD?
Trio is a base plate with space for three containers.
Solo is a smaller base plate for a single container.
Containers come in three different colors (green, black, and gray) and feature a hole in the top. The different colors make it easier for you to keep track of which scent hide contains what.
Spacer bar is simply a straight piece used to create distance between the blocks.

Solo: 9 x 9 cm and 2 cm high.
Container: 5 cm in diameter and approx. 5.5 cm high.
Spacer bar: 23 x 6 cm and 2 cm high.
All parts are black, with the exception of the scent containers, which are available in three colors: green, black, and gray.
