Training with targets is a great way to teach the dog where to place its paws. And that is probably also the reason why so many people use target mats in particular. It's a fun way for purposeful and distinct accuracy.
Place the target plate when you want to teach the dog to forward in obedience, to mark a contact field on agility or to lock the legs when you train on balance balls. But before you go into the specific training, of course you need to teach the dog what this colorful round plate is for.
The easiest way to teach paw target is probably to lay out the plate on the floor and click when the dog does the right behavior. As soon as the doggy understands that it should stand on the marking, you can try moving it to the bed or on a staircase. After that, you can increase the degree of difficulty and bang tjong, the dog has learned target training and it can be applied in any dog training.
This marking plate is made of PVC, which makes the plate both soft and flexible. The plate can be placed on different surfaces and lies still there without sliding around. The top of the target is rough, which means that the dog gets a good grip.
