CAVALETTI TO THE DOG

  • Jumping obstacles for the dog's physical training
  • Two different sizes of cones
  • Useful dog training that strengthens the body
Regardless of whether your dog is an active agility dog or an ordinary companion dog, whether the doggy is old or young or whether it is big or small, it needs to use its body. From Trixie comes the cavaletti obstacles that you can use to both activate and train your four-legged friend. Cavaletti is about training large parts of the dog's muscle groups in a calm way. It may look quite simple to ask the dog to walk over some jumping obstacles. But that is precisely what is difficult. Because by the dog slowly and masterfully walking over the barriers, a functional body memory is formed where the doggy also learns that it has four legs. So what's so great about cavaletti? Well, it's a form of training where the dog gets to train core and back muscles, it requires concentration, balance, coordination and body awareness. In addition, add that it is easy to achieve, you do not need a particularly large area and it does not take a long time either. Here is a complete cavaletti set with plastic obstacles and divisible plastic barriers. The cones come in two different sizes; one larger and one smaller. Both have holes at three different levels so you can vary the height of the barrier. The larger one is sold in a pack of two obstacles while the smaller one is sold in a pack of three obstacles. If an even higher height is desired, you can place the boom on top of the cone. Keep in mind that cavaletti is not about high heights, but low obstacles that the doggy must step over. SUGGESTIONS FOR DIFFERENT EXERCISES WITH CAVALETTI There are tons of different exercises you can do with cavaletti hurdles, apart from the obvious walking the dog back and forth. Here is a list of some different exercises: * You can ask the dog to back over the obstacles, requires good body control and that the dog is focused. * Or why not just use a set up obstacle and let the dog slowly walk in a figure eight between the cones. * Have the dog do a controlled spin over the bars before the doggy continues forward. * If your dog is of a smaller breed, the doggy can also train to crawl under the bar, perhaps taking each other over and each other under. * You can also use a single cone and thread several jump bars so that one end of the bar is on the ground. Let the dog walk around the cone, just remember to switch turns as the doggy may lift the inside paw higher than the outside paw. * Set up an obstacle between two balance balls to make the dog balance and at the same time lift its paws. * Let the dog slowly slalom between the cones. For more training tips see the video below. The bars are divisible, which means that the cavaletti set takes up minimal space when not in use. The set also comes with a practical bag so you can store everything together. SIZE AND COLOR Available in two different sizes; small and large. Small: Sold in a pack of three obstacles, totally six cones and three bars. The cones are 30 cm high and have a diameter at the bottom of 30 cm. The bars are 80 cm long. There are holes for the bars at three different levels on the cone; 5 cm, 12 cm, 20 cm (the dimensions refer to the jump height). Large: Sold in a pack of two obstacles, totally four cones and two bars. The cones are 50 cm high and have a diameter at the bottom of 30 cm. The bars are 100 cm long. There are holes for the bars at three different levels on the cone; 5 cm, 12 cm, 20 cm (the dimensions refer to the jump height). HANSESGÅRDEN TIPS A good guideline for getting the right distance between obstacles is the same distance as between the floor and the dog's elbow. You can easily measure this with the help of a jump bar. The height of the jump bar should only be about up to the dog's wrist.
