Like regular target plates, but with a big difference. Because unlike
smooth target, this paw plate has small spikes, which increases circulation in the dog's paws and gives an extra dimension to the mat. The many spikes work as nerve stimulants while the spikes help the muscles to relax. It provides a sensory stimulus just by standing still on the mat.
The red oblong mat is soft and bendable. They come in a pack of two and you choose whether you want to use one or both. Some people choose to use the mat as a regular target to clearly teach the dog to find its paws. Another way to use the akumat is to use it together with some kind of balance ball for physical training.
You can use the mats yourself and stand on them at your desk while you work. The increased blood circulation can be good for heel spurs (plantar fasciitis) and to relax the muscles in the foot. Standing on the spiked mat is a kind of reflexology for your feet.
The thin target plates have an anti-slip underside, which means they lie still on the floor. Due to their flexibility, they can be used on different types of surfaces, perhaps on a balance counter or on top of another balance ball.
