This cooling pad is self-cooling, which means that it does not need to be soaked, but is activated directly by the dog, or cat, laying down on it. The body heat is absorbed and simultaneously converted into cold. The effect remains for three to four hours. The cooling pad is about 10 - 15 degrees cooler than the surrounding temperature, which means that it cools nicely without feeling too cold. And when the effect has worn off, just let the mat rest for a little while and then it is ready to be used again. As the mat does not need water to be activated, this also means that the cat and dog do not get wet from lying on the pad.
