In the past, the skins from pike and zander were thrown away as only the fish meat was used for food for us humans. But not anymore. Thanks to the Finnish company Alvar, the fish skin is now taken care of and given a new life as a dried rolled up chewing stick.
It is in Finnish lakes that the zander and pike are caught, and then the skin is dried and rolled into hard rolls. The fish chew is natural, easy to digest and healthy.
This is definitely not a chew that is odorless or that disappears without a trace. No, rather the other way around. Partly it smells fishy and partly the chewed piece leaves a little scale behind. But maybe that is precisely why the roll is so appreciated?
The thick texture gives the dog a bit to bite into, so we'd say this herringbone roll is somewhere between a stick and a regular chew bone in terms of durability.
